in Astana
Introduction
The OSCE Programme Office in Astana (the Office) promotes the implementation of OSCE
principles and commitments, facilitates contacts and exchange of information, and provides
assistance to the government of Kazakhstan.
In 2017, the Office continued active co-operation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MoIA) of
Kazakhstan and national law enforcement agencies. The Office took a multi-faceted approach
in its activities to P/C VERLT through engaging civil society, youth, women, religious leaders
and law enforcement agencies. Law enforcement officers from across the country were
trained to combat transnational organized crime, terrorism and cybercrime, as well as discuss
best practices in community policing and public assembly management.
