Persons profiting from the abduction and trafficking of women and those involved in rape, ill-treatment and unlawful detention of others are charged, in accordance with the Chinese Criminal Code, with the offences of abducting and trafficking in women and children, rape, inflicting injury, unlawfully detaining others and other associated offences. At the same time, the authorities attach high importance to efforts to protect the rights and interests of victims, ensuring that they receive personal care and consideration, and are actively assisting foreign women and children who have been rescued from such abusive practices, endeavouring to ensure the personal safety and physical and mental health of victims.
