To this date, there is a misconception that the main goal of the National Centre is to examine allegations of torture and ill-treatment. The National Centre, as a public authority, takes allegations of torture of citizens, but is not competent to deal with them, and only sends them to the prosecuting authorities in accordance with the requirements of the Law on the National Centre.
