6 REPORT FROM THE NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR CRIME PRE VENTION posal for measures to facilitate inmates’ contact with close relatives and friends. This involves making it possible to call mobile telephones and telephones connected to IP addresses. In the National Council for Crime Prevention’s opinion, remand prisons’ routines for visits and telephone calls should be more standardised. Furthermore, in the opinion of the National Council for Crime Prevention, consideration should be made to developing a systemic assessment process which staff can use and confirm with each inmate on a daily basis. This would reduce the risk of staff failing to notice someone who is unwell and may be in need of extra support. – 36 –
