Gigi Scoles and Anupama Selvam 17 VI. Conclusion The Vital Voices Justice Institute is a multi-disciplinary Model designed to train participants to better utilize local laws and systems while concurrently helping them understand underlying dynamics of gender-based violence. Its unique design prioritizes deep consultation with local part ners to ensure cultural sensitivity and relevance, diversity of perspectives and teaching methods to reach a variety of different learners, flexibility in design and implementation to respond to new issues as they arise, utilizing and building networks, and experienced and credible trainers. As international due diligence obligations around gender-based violence develop, States have been required to not only implement laws to address the growing threat of gender-based violence, but to also take responsibility to prevent, protect victims, and punish perpetrators of gender-based violence. As States continue to grapple with these growing responsibilities, programs like the Justice Institute can provide States with a strong solution to meet their due diligence obligations to end gender-based violence.
