He claims that his deportation to Sri Lanka would constitute a violation by Australia of article 3 of the Convention. The complainant is not represented by counsel. Australia made the declaration under article 22 of the Convention on 28 January 1993. 1.2 On 18 March 2014, in application of rule 114, paragraph 1, of its rules of procedure, the Committee requested the State party not to deport the complainant to Sri Lanka while the complaint was being considered by the Committee. On 7 April 2015, the State party requested the Committee to lift its request for interim measures. On 16 April 2015, the Committee denied the State party’s request to lift the interim measures. On 26 May 2015, the Committee reiterated its request for interim measures. On 29 May 2015, the State party made a second request to lift the interim measures.
