INTRODUCTION 3 persons with disabilities are unable to access the support they need to reintegrate into society. There is also limited data available on the numbers of defendants and detainees with intellectual disabilities in Lithuania. Existing reports and studies suggest that this is a significant issue that requires attention and action from the government and relevant stakeholders. Overall, there is a need for increased awareness and action to address the challenges faced by defendants and detainees with intellectual and/or psychosocial disabilities in Lithuania. This may include providing training for lawyers and court personnel on how to support persons with disabilities, investing in accessible infrastructure and accommodations for persons with disabilities in the criminal justice system, and developing community-based services and support for persons with disabilities who come into contact with the criminal justice system.
