INTRODUCTION 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1. LOCAL CONTEXT AND RELEVANCE Lithuania is a party to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), which provides a framework for protecting and promoting the rights of persons with disabilities, including those with intellectual and psychosocial disabilities. It also has several laws and policies in place, which aim to improve the protection of the rights and interests of persons with disabilities, including their right to access justice. For example, Law on the Social Integration of Persons with Disabilities1 aims to ensure equal rights and opportunities for persons with disabilities in society, to define the principles of social integration of persons with disabilities, to define the system of social integration and its prerequisites and conditions, the institutions implementing the social integration of persons with disabilities, the determination of the level of disability, the level of incapacity for work, the level of special needs and the level of special needs and the provision of services for professional rehabilitation.
