Investigation of deaths and incidents of violence Within the framework of its specific competence, the NPM has launched a series of exploratory contacts with the Ministry of Citizen Protection and Police Departments in order to identify cases, particularly deaths or injuries, that could trigger ex officio interventions on issues such as detention conditions, security, staff adequacy, delay of immediate response to particular requests or conduct, and emergency management. Where appropriate, specific questions are raised about the development and the possibility of preventing the incidents in question, supervision at the specific time and place, assistance provided, and the general instructions
