Part I Recognition and usage This section presents key observations related to practical usage of the Istanbul Protocol and the investigation and documentation of torture. The authors, representing both the medical and legal professions, emphasise that progress toward prosecution of perpetrators – and ultimately, the complete eradication of torture – cannot be made without close collaboration between both professions in the investigation and documentation of torture allegations.
