Central A sia 4.9 Centre in Ashgabat Introduction The OSCE Centre in Ashgabat (the Centre) was established in 1999. In accordance with its mandate, the Centre assists the host country in implementing OSCE principles and commitments as well as in promoting the host country’s co-operation with the OSCE in all spheres. As part of its police-related activities, the Centre focuses on building the capacity of law enforcement services to counter illicit drugs trafficking, countering terrorism and to enhance border security and management. These activities are complemented by projects on countering THB, prevention of domestic violence and assistance to penitentiary and criminal justice system improvement.
