There are several other avenues for bringing individual complaints to United Nations bodies. Complaints can be submitted to the Human Rights Council’s complaint procedure (previously known as the 1503 procedure),2 its special rapporteurs and working groups3 and to the Commission on the Status of Women. However, these procedures have a different focus from those under the above-mentioned international treaties, which provide individual redress through quasi-judicial mechanisms.
