paral-aids. By way of example, a woman with partial paral
ysis complained to the Ombudsman because her
application for financial support for a disability car
had been refused.
Transport, communication and roads
A substantial proportion of complaints under this
heading are about public roads or private commucommunal roads. Examples of situations which give rise
to complaints to the Ombudsman are neighbour
disputes or dissatisfaction with an order by a
municipality to maintain or provide access to a priprivate communal road. Other complaints concern,
for instance, public digital self-service solutions,
media licence fees or the Radio and Television
Board – which became the subject of a great many
complaints when it decided to grant a broadcastbroadcasting licence to another channel instead of RadioRadio24syv in 2019.
Foreign nationals
Although these cases generate much media
coverage, they account for only a relatively small
proportion of the complaints received by the
Ombudsman. A number of complaints under this
addi-heading are about long processing times. In addi
tion, the Ombudsman receives complaints from
foreign nationals who are required to reside at a
departure centre and complaints about, among
humani-other things, refusals of applications for humani
tarian residence permits, family reunification and
visas. For instance, a Danish man complained to
the Ombudsman because his spouse’s niece had
been refused a visa on the grounds that she was
from a country whose citizens presented ‘a high
risk of illegal immigration’.
