60 Case No. 13/00835 People with severe mobility problems may be granted individual disability transportation pursuant to section 11 of the Public Transport Act. An interest group informed the Ombudsman that a municipality had deprived citizens of the right to individual disability transportation because they possessed a car for disabled drivers. The Ministry of Transport had previously issued a guiding statement listing the cate gories of disabled people included in the scheme, and the Ombudsman therefore asked the Ministry to look into the matter. The Min istry issued a new guiding statement, which said that municipalities are not allowed to take a citizen’s possession of a car for the disabled into account when they assess whether or not to grant individual disability transportation. The Ministry referred to the fact that the le gislative proposal for the Public Transport Act was significantly changed on this point during Parliament’s reading of the bill. In 2013, the Ombudsman received 4,769 complaints from citizens, enterprises, organisations, etc. about what they perceived to be errors made by public authorities. Case No. 13/01215 A newspaper article about a citizen’s tax case caused one of the newspaper’s readers to react. He wrote an e-mail to the journalist behind the article and sent it cc to a number of Members of Parliament and to the Ombudsman. The Ombudsman replied that he understood the e-mail to have been sent to him for his information and that he would consequently take no further action in the matter. The Ombudsman also asked the newspaper reader to state his postal address or to send a so-called secure e-mail, for instance via the digital post box on www.borger.dk (official online selfservice portal), if he wrote to the Ombudsman in future. The Ombudsman’s replies to complainants are usually confidential and are therefore sent through the post or as secure, encrypted emails.
