THEMATIC REPORT 2017
TORTURE AND MIGRATION
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, 93 percent
of their clients experienced some form
of psychological problems, with 90
percent noting that they were struggling
with sleeping or experiencing insomnia.
Emotional difficulties, problems in social
functioning and having negative thoughts
and feelings about themselves also ranked
very highly among the psychological
problems reported by their clients.
“Many of our clients have
severe mental health problems
because of the torture they
suffered in their home
countries. And in many cases,
the act of fleeing is, in itself,
also traumatising”
